Let’s Play – Chapter 15

Let’s Play – Chapter 15: Nigerian, Free, Web Novel, Drama, Romance, Play Girl, Fabling Pam

+Daniella+
The fundraising venue was beautiful! It had pink ribbons everywhere and blue drapes and white balloons and the chairs and tables where covered in white pink and blue. It was like they had picked a colour for each decoration.
I slipped my right arm into Tobi’s left arm and we walked in like the perfect couple while Bimbo followed us, we took a seat at the front of the hall where the usher had directed us to.
Tobi was a total gentleman. He pulled the chair out for me and waited till I sat down before pushing the chair back in, then he took his seat right beside me. Bimbo sat on the other side of the table and made a ‘yuck’ expression at Tobi’s being a gentleman, I winked at her and she turned her face away and began to scan the hall and I did the same too. It seemed as though we were one of the first to arrive and I do not like being early to events, it is just not like me and I guess we were both in sync as the nervous expression she had on her face gave her away
“So Bimbo, when will your date arrive?” Tobi asked
“Daniella dragged me here” Was her short answer
“If I hadn’t she would be sleeping by now” I defended myself
“It is eight in the night, you sleep at night,” She said in a matter of fact tone and I sighed
“So what do you think they have to offer?” I decided to change the topic
“I don’t know, let’s check the brochure” Tobi signalled for a brochure from one of the female ushers. It seemed they had all agreed to come in really skimpy pink and blue gowns and ‘kill me high’ heels. I was pretty sure that they all felt really pretty but to me, they all looked really desperate
“Let’s see…” He opened the booklet and read out “Opening prayer, Speech from the VC, Speech from the Registrar, Performance by the school’s drama group, Speech from the management of the orphanage, presentation by the orphanage children with the donation basket passed around and food served, dance, dance, dance”
“Is that how they wrote it?” Bimbo stretched her hand over the table and grabbed the brochure from his hand
“Nope” Tobi replied then turned to me “This is probably going to be boring”
I nodded in agreement then looked towards the entrance of the hall and gasped. Bimbo followed my gave and smirked “This might not be boring for me after all”
Bolaji had walked in hand in hand with Cynthia and I could not say I was jealous, but they looked like the perfect couple and it made me sick. He was on black all through except for his red tie and silver wristwatch and Cynthia was in a red gown with black stripes. His eyes seemed to catch mine in a dare before he looked down lovingly at Cynthia and pecked her on the forehead. My stomach ached like I had not eaten for days and I squeezed my face. Tobi shifted on his chair and I could have sworn that he had noticed my sudden change in atmosphere. I watched as one of the ushers attended to them then turned my head away from their direction to face Bimbo who now had a mischievous smile on her face
“You know them?” Tobi asked like what seemed out of courtesy and I turned to face him and nodded “X?” he asked again
“No, not even close” Bimbo answered for me “Playmates”
I heard the chair of the next table being pulled out and I gulped really hard “Sorry” Tobi said and handed me the bottle of water into the glass cup and handed it to me. I accepted it with a quick thank you and took a big gulp then I used my eyes to ask him to look behind me, he picked up the signal, smiled and looked behind me by moving only his eyes and nodded with a curious smile
“And here comes Mr. Ego,” Bimbo said with a smug look facing the entrance of the hall, I followed her gaze and lo and behold! I saw the most beautiful boy I had ever seen. No offence to Tobi and Bolaji, I mean Tobi is Fly, Bolaji is cute, but that guy is a three in one package. He was also dressed in black and red like Bola but instead of a plain pant trouser, he had on a pencil jean and had a black Allstar with red shoelaces. He had a smooth smirk on his face and somehow I felt it was directed at Bimbo. This guy was definitely egocentric. I watched as he took a sit on Bolaji’s table and quickly turned my face away when I noticed Bolaji and Cynthia had caught me staring but Bimbo kept an evil smirk on her face with an evaluating look as she kept on staring at him.
I looked at the entrance again and kicked Bimbo’s legs under the table, she got the message and the evaluating look disappeared from her face but only the evil smirk remained. “Nice to see she brought my toy”
“When is this going to start?” I said rather than asked
“Now,” Tobi said and brought out a PSP from his pocket “And now the boredom begins”
The opening prayer was done by one of the little orphanage children who was wearing a white shirt with ‘Hope and Faith’ written on it, The VC gave his speech which was mostly to gloat about his achievements since he became VC, then the Registrar gave her speech to commend the students for honouring the fundraiser, She said something about not expecting to see these many students and I looked around the hall to see it was filled up with most students. Throughout these two speeches Tobi kept on playing with his PSP, Bimbo for some reason paid attention to the whole speech and I, well, could not pay attention to anything other than ‘Why is Bolaji here?’.
The school presented its drama which was about a girl who got pregnant at an early age, gave birth to the baby, then dumped him on the roadside and ran away, someone finds the baby and takes him to an orphanage home. Guess which orphanage home, yup. Latter in the future the girl gets married and cannot have a child and then she begins to look for her child. You know how those predictable stories go. But I had to hand it to them. The acting was great, even Tobi had to put the game on hold and watch.
The orphanage manager gave his speech on how hard it was to maintain the health of the children at the orphanage and how they were trying their best and something about it being our chance to help the orphans. Then he presented the next act.
A group of children wearing white shirts with Hope and Faith written on it came on stage and they received a round of applause. I noticed that Tobi had put his PSP back into his pocket and was also clapping for them
Then a little girl stepped forward and she was given the microphone. Some older children already had microphones with them before they came on the stage.
The piano was played and they sang ‘I have a dream’ by Abba gold, but I noticed that the little girl did not sing loud enough for her voice to be heard even though she had a microphone with her.
When they finished singing the pianist stopped playing, they stepped down from the stage, but the little girl remained and the pianist began to play again.
The little girl stepped forward, close to the edge of the stage and then took in a deep breath and began to sing “I believe the children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way, show them all the beauty they possess inside…..” The moment she got through the first line of that song everybody began to clap for her, some students even whistled and the ushers began to move from table to table with the donation basket.
She nailed the song without missing the keys. It was amazing! An usher walked to our table with a basket and Tobi dropped a cheque in it as well as Bimbo, I put my hand into my purse and brought out the money in it which I had put there earlier with the intention of donating it although I had my doubt. But in the spur of the moment, I dropped it into the basket with an open heart and I wondered if the little girl’s big voice had anything to do with it.
“Wow,” I heard that guy that Bimbo had been looking at say from behind us then the usher moved to their table
The fund-raiser was soon over. And it was time for the after-party called ‘dance, dance, dance and menu, menu, menu’. The buffet table was set and the DJ took over and began by playing ‘Mr. Endowed’ by D’banj, then ‘Mo lo owo’ By Ice Prince and The Prince, Sam clef and whiz kid and more songs followed, even ‘Windeck’ by Cabo Snoop.
We all stood up and danced and I noticed that all the school officials had left.
“I’ll leave you two alone,” Bimbo said and walked over to Clara and Desmond and pulled him away from her and began to dance in a really flirty way and Desmond was really enjoying it like his girlfriend was not around.
The music changed to ‘Oleku’ by Ice Prince and Brymo and everybody began to slow the pace of their dance, Bimbo stopped dancing dirty on Desmond then threw her arm around his neck then whispered something into his eyes that I really wished I had heard because he looked really turned on after hearing it. He was quite tall so she tiptoed up and gave him a peck on the lip in a teasing manner then pulled away and continued dancing and whining and grinding all over him. At that point I knew this was no longer a game, she was not doing this for the money anymore. It was now pure revenge. This was our final year and exams would be coming up in about two weeks and it seemed like she wanted to leave a mark not only on Clara but on everybody. She had no plan from the start to let Clara have him back after she paid her, she planned on breaking them up without hope of repair. Clara finally lost it and I could see the glaring angry look in her eyes as she stormed towards the buffet table.
Tobi, I continued to dance as we both kept on trying to stay up to date with what was going on Bimbo’s side, Tobi was a good dancer, what the heck! Compared to me, the girl that hardly danced, he was the best dancer alive!, he made me look like I could dance although at first I was a little intimidated by how good he was, he told me to relax and have fun. So I let him lead me and tried copying his moves which made us both end up laughing, most especially when the DJ played ‘Windeck”
I saw Clara return with a glass of red wine in her hand and walk towards her boyfriend and Bimbo then pour the red wine on Bimbo. Luckily for her, she was wearing a fitted black gown so only her hair and face looked wet, although the cloth did seem tighter
Tobi and I stopped dancing along with a few people who had noticed and stared at them to see the next reaction “Should we help her out” Tobi asked, not from his natural goodwill but out of courtesy. I was about to say yes when I saw a victorious smirk playing on Bimbo’s lips “She knows what she is doing” I said to him with a smile “Let’s continue dancing” the DJ started playing ‘Holla at your boy’ by Whiz kid
“I am guessing it is none of my business” he sighed and I nodded then we continued dancing. Bimbo walked towards us while we were dancing and whispered in my ear “I’m through with the game” then walked out of the hall
Still dancing, I looked over at Desmond and Clara and saw Desmond walk away from her “Hope she enjoys her revenge” I whispered but loud enough for Tobi to ear and he nodded his head in agreement and we both continued dancing and did not even bother with asking me about the meaning behind my statement and I noted in my head that if this was his true nature I would begin to fall for him in no time.
A slender figure came between Tobi and I and I noticed that she was wearing a red gown with black stripes
“I am a better dancer” she had a very seductive voice and her hands-on Tobi’s neck
“I can tell” Tobi smiled at her then shot me a confused look
“What about Bola?” I asked her still shocked that she would steal my date.
“Oh, he refused to dance” She simply said without even looking at me and already dancing on Tobi.
I frowned at her back and Tobi smiled “Of all the thousand and one dates to dance with. Why mine?”
“Because mine chose you” I was shocked by her answer and I truly hoped that she was only pulling my legs. Then she pointed at the buffet table where Bola was serving himself with a punch drink. I looked up at Tobi and smiled so that he knew I was okay with him dancing with her. Not like I ever had a problem with it.
I went to meet Bola by the Buffet table and picked a plastic cup and poured orange juice into it. “Is she trying to get you jealous?” I asked him and I could have sworn that he was not expecting me to ask him that question, from the shocked expression in his eyes. I looked behind me at Tobi and Cynthia and it looked like they were really enjoying themselves
“Is he your boyfriend?” He asked like he really did not care but I could see right through his ‘cool guy act’ like Sherlock Holmes
“I asked you a question first” I smirked. He was definitely jealous
“Maybe” He shrugged, dropped his cup on the table then walked out of the hall and I sighed and followed him.
When we got to where he had parked his car he turned around to face me and asked: “Why are you following me?”
“You are angry,” I stated.
“No, I am not,” he said slowly like he was talking to a child.
I shook my head and stepped closer to him and he did not move backwards, although the angry look in his eyes faded into pure curiosity. I touched his cheek and smiled. “I think I won the game without even playing” I teased. He turned his head away from me but I still felt like pushing more buttons. “And no he is not my boyfriend,” I said with a smile then turned to walk away from him “So I am going to walk away from here knowing that I won, even though you don’t seem ‘guguey’ over me” for a moment as I walked away I felt overwhelmed with disappointment but I did not know why but as I took my second step away from him he grabbed my hand and pulled me back turning me around to face him and our eyes locked and what I had been avoiding finally happened.
He leaned forward and gently placed his lips on mine, and my will to resist seemed to have taken off to Paris. His lips gently caressed mine till I gave him entrance. I slipped my hands around his neck and the gentle kisses turned into hungry passionate kisses but for some, as usual, unknown reason, I wanted more. My hips began to move on their own accord, arcing forward and my chest began to rise and fall to a rhythm that was all too strange to me but I had no control over my body
He began to lift my gown up and I could feel it go all the way up my thigh, we were in the open but as I implied earlier, my common sense had taken off to Paris. But his was still around, he opened his driver’s seat door with one hand while the other still caressed my laps and not breaking the passion, he slid in with me on him
He released my lips and I protested and captured his with a hunger that had to be illegal. I dropped my purse on the passenger’s seat and undid his tie then I began to unbutton his shirt still kissing him with so much hunger. It had been like seven years since I had kissed a guy and he was that guy. He pulled away from me and before I could protest again he began to trail kisses down my neck. By now my gown was raised up to my waist and saying that I was wet was an understatement. I did not even notice that the zip of my gown was down and he had slid it down my shoulder until I felt soft wet kisses on my nipples.
I cupped his face and raised it up a little and looked into his eyes still panting and he had that look that those romance novels say he should have at a time like this so I pushed him to lay back on the chair then I began to trail soft kisses down his chest. I really wanted to stop but I could not, the only thing I could think of was Avril Lavinge’s song “All my life I’ve been good but now I am thinking, what the hell” my hand began to move to his belt. He cupped my face in his palm and gently rose my face to look into his eyes
“Are you sure?” He asked with so much hunger and concern in his voice and I could tell that it was hard for him to combine the two, although it turned me on, it also flew common sense back to Nigeria and into my head. I slowly shook my head and he smiled then placed a light kiss on my lips and sat up. I adjusted my sitting position too to sit sideways on his lap then he helped me zip my gown back up and then I rested my head on his shoulder, he responded by cuddling me so gently, I could feel our heartbeat rise and fall in sync and I felt like he was an extension of my body and wondered if I would be deceiving myself if I denied haven fallen in love.
